Think about that statement. People really do CARE about this device. They want it to be amazing - or more to the point - they NEED it to be amazing. Manufacturers of consumer devices used to get multiple chances to make products that over time get better and better. Was the first iMac really amazing? What about the first iPod?

Thats not to say that first iPod wasn’t at least equal or better than competing products - but to be honest was it revolutionary?

Think about the Blackberry. Today everyone looks at the Pearl or the Curve and thinks they are state of the art devices, which of course they are. But RIM has had years and years to perfect a device that until recently only did one thing - email.

The rules have changed when it comes to Apple and the iPhone. Everyone (and I mean everyone) is betting the farm on this one. AT&T is. Apple investors are - look where AAPL is). And consumers are - in a huge way.

Has anyone that was looking to upgrade their phone in the last couple of months actually not at least considered waiting for an iPhone?

So the pressure is on in a big way. And like many, I really want it to succeed. I do care if it all goes according to plan. Why - tough to answer. But maybe its because we all want life to be fun again. The same way that someone who can use a PC for over a decade and then starts using a Mac and actually enjoys the experience.

So what this blog will try and do, as many others are doing, is keep track of all the goings on related to the iPhone. Both good and bad news but with an emphasis on the enjoyment of what looks to be a great device.
